ArmSpell Armenian Electronic Proofreading System
was created within the framework of the "Research Support for Young Researchers" supported by the Science Committee of RA (Research project № 19YR-6B070) within the scope of the research topic "Armenian electronic proofreading system".
The author and head of the project is Meri Sargsyan, senior researcher of the Language Institute named after H. Acharyan, PhD, associate professor (http://language.sci.am/hy/comparative-linguistics/meri-sargsyan.html).
Electronic spell checkers are programs that can be used to correct language errors in the text. Foreign language proofreading systems or spell checkers have been around since the last century. Initially, they only corrected spelling errors, then the software capabilities increased and began to correct grammatical errors as well. Today, foreign language spell checkers have a relatively high level of development. They are able to correct not only spelling and grammatical errors, but also stylistic and punctuation errors.
Moreover, there are even multilingual spell checkers in the field that allow you to correct errors in texts in several languages. Some of the popular ones are Grammarly, Ginger, Spell Check PlusPro, CorrectEnglish Complete, etc. During the implementation of the research topic "Armenian electronic proofreading system", a number of foreign language and Armenian proofreading systems were studied.
Scientific articles and a monograph were published in local and foreign journals.
Within the "Armenian Electronic Proofreading System" research topic, a spell checker has been created, through which an attempt is made to completely and fully proofread any text written in modern Eastern Armenian. In order to make it accessible to the general public, the proofreading system operates on a separate website under the website address https://armspell.am/hy, which is registered in all search engines. In terms of application, it is simple and fast as there is no need to download any software to use it.
